the internet used to be more like this.
simple, personal sites, manually linked to each other forming chains of association. non-algorithmic. not designed for efficient advertising. you may not be old enough to remember this--i barely am--and even if you are you may not care. but i care. a lot! and in my opinion you should care. it's weird that our fastest, broadest tool for communication is owned by huge companies run by fuckheads and siloed into self-contained "user-friendly" apps. the internet should be a little messy, a little manual, and a lot more populist and democratic and anarchic than it currently is.
anyway, didn't mean to get into a mini-manifesto. here are some people and things and places on the internet that i think are Good and Interesting and Valuable. check them out, and get off ur phone!!!

xkcd- not exactly a well-kept secret, but xkcd is beautiful and silly and dorky and wonderful. (its source code is also a great place to look for some simple, effective web design.)
CJ the X- rapper, self-taught philosopher, christian that likes to say fuck, youtuber--CJ is doing cool shit. (the book club on their patreon is (in my biased opinion) the best community on the internet.)
Naive Weekly- "A Sunday email with links to the quiet, odd and poetic web."
W3Schools- where i learned practically everything for making this site.
Net Art Anthology- ??????
poem club by Larissa Pham- ......
